Gardens come in all shapes and sizes – and also what is in them. With the Society of Garden Designers I visited Jupiterartland just outside Edinburgh, a contemporary sculpture garden with artworks by many artists, some I know and whose work I love, others which are totally new to me. Each artwork has been commissioned and constructed for its particular location within the garden. All of them were very evocative, some joyful, beautiful, tactile, thought-provoking, sad, cosmic and one or two I could not get my head around and a couple plain scary enough to make me want to run away.
I wonder if this is the reaction the artists expected? I really enjoyed it. Go along and see what you think…
